Avril Lavigne has achieved chart success matched only by Madonna! Lavigne's debut single, Complicated, has toped the Contemporary Hit Radio chart for 10 weeks, tying Madonna for the longest stay at No. 1 in the history of the Broadcast Data System. Alanis Morissette previously held the record for a Canadian artist's stay at the top of the chart with her 1999 hit Thank U lasting seven weeks. On May 29 Avril Lavigne, originally from Napanee, Ont., became the first Canadian solo artist to have a debut song go straight to No.1.
