If FN's were allowed to open casino's - their whole communities would change. There would be bumps and thumps maybe with 'fast $$ syndrome' and corruption, and once that's over and a 'reality' grip of the reins in hand. Life would change for far, far, better. Canada allows NON-Indigenous people to o...

Govt making such laws shows zero empathy, compassion, respect, for the people. We reap what is sown.

I would say - look at the parents. I've been single mom and taught my sons to handle loneliness with learning various activities- both are fantastic guitar players, chess players, great at archery and rifles, and other healthy skills. All done with minimal amounts of $$ and debt. I took great care r...

Wow people. Quick to judgements and executioners role. Wow. Those monies will get recovered by the govt and the band will lose that amount too. It's not as bad as that guy says. The article is good at 'gaslighting' tho and who fell for it?

Residential school in my area- was split in two. Grades 1-8 in nearby town then to finish high school, FN students had to ship out to Sudbury for grades 9-12. Would you want to continue school? - if you spent kindergarten to grade 8 getting beaten, raped, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly? Many communi...

Sure, the band gets $$ 's but it's the EDUCATION director-counselor-whatever Title who has 'control' of the monies too, and ALL band monies require FN's ASK govt Indigenous minister(s) for those $$ via documentation (BCR) similar to proposals before $$ released. Once $$ deposited, yes, band does do ...

Joys of living 'reverse racism' - I was one of those 60s scoop kids - returning to a FN village and I get called 'white Indian'- gals hate my calm, cool as a cucumber 'airs' but my sons learned - my bloodline is near 99.9% Nish ( I have a scot grandpa few generations back) vs their 49.9%. I'm Indigenous and heard many far worst 'descriptions'. A discussion with my sons, nephews and nieces - we decided 'neighbors' is best but then ... we do run into racists and they come in varying 'levels' of extremism - worst is the murderer- but we settled on 'neighbors'.

Awesome write! [flag] the thanks Indigenous soldiers got from Canada - for my family - 60s Scoop. I lost my grandfather and a few uncles in those wars. I would later lose my bio-mother, not once but twice. She passed away before I was old enough to search for them.

I just want to see a Canada and People that will stand up, and FIGHT to PROTECT their constitution vs letting govts 'erode' Rights of the people, give themselves 'no liability clauses' for governing to include abusing Rights of the people. Zero accountability is govt 'agenda'. Look how Ont premier '...

If people took a step back and took a good hard look - Canadian society is in decline. The past cons and now lib govts have 'eroded' Constitutional rights of the People. Nobody is seeing that but Indigenous peoples see all of it and where it's heading. Nobody will have rights that protect them. It's...
