OK, I am new here having just registered on Saturday. I make a few posts, check my email today and lo and behold, what do I see? An email from CanadaKA stating that I apparently have requested a password change. I checked out the IP addy listed in the email and it's nowhere near me. Now, this is no ... |

I think you are wrong about this. I read the news everyday (papers and web) and I find it hard to believe I have missed additional mad cows in the US - other than the one that came from a cow purchased in Alberta. The US based BSE cases I can remember were in (West) Virginia, this I know for certai... |

There was an online poll in The Globe and Mail prior to themerger which showed something like 38% saying they'd not drink Molson products if the merger happened, 26% would continue to drink it and the rest didn't drink Molson to start with. Rumour has it they've been losing market share since the me... |

Thank you!
I suppose what I've said here, so far, would be 'left' but that's far too neat a classification. I'm all over the place depending on the topic and context of the discussion. |

Yes, we do have many U.S. companies here. I know, two of my former employers were purchased by them, and I already agreed we embraced capitalism and consumerism. We've covered this.

Brock, Who is Rev? I'm new here. Anyway, I was taught we had always held quite socialist views as compared to our southern neighbours. If you want to call me on being imprecise in wording then I stand guilty as charged, rereading it it was a bad choice of words. The discussion pertained to viewpoint... |

We were definately shaped by displaced Loyalists. The BNA, though, was an act of self preservation by Britain. They gave us a measure of self rule to head off another nasty uprising as was seen in the colonies. Trudeau then 'sealed the deal' through negotiation. No wars were necessary which provided... |

Welsh, There are mechanisms to resolve trade disputes, yes. The U.S. has lost every single complaint levied against Canada in the softwood lumber disputes but continues to make up something new once they lose. That is the point of contention. They also recently stated that even though they lost the ... |

As I mentioned earlier, if it could be guaranteed to be fair for all involved I would be for an economic agreement being put in place. Unfortunately at this time it just doesn't seem possible. How many times must we win a trade dispute before it is recognised by the U.S.? No offence intended to any ... |

I, for one, m very grateful we did not join their rebellion. We would not be who we are today had we taken up arms alongside the colonists. The fundamental difference between Canada and the U.S is that they were founded on rebllion and war. Canada, while we had our own incidents was actually founded... |

You are correct, we do follow capitalism as well but our foundation is as a socialist state. The real change in the way things work up here occured in the 50's and 60's. That was when we started to really buy into capitalism ('scuse the pun). The 70's and 80's was when we adopted the idea of consume... |

It's no secret that Canadian attitudes are far more in line with those of the EU than they are with the U.S. We are a socialist state, the U.S. is a capitalist state so it should be no shocker to anyone. Take what you will from that but that's just how it is. Personally, I feel that Canadians are mo... |

The Beef issue is a joke and I am hoping the farmers themselves are successful in setting up their own slaughter houses to distribute their product and diversify the markets they service. Two things about the beef situation just blew me away; 1) There were a number of cases of BSE in the U.S. after ... |
