If you can tax a company for bottling water then you can tax a farmer for irrigating from a dugout or a rural resident for their well. In fact, the next step will be to tax cisterns recharged from rainwater. If you look at houses built in England several hundred years ago they have very small windo... |

I can understand the desire to reap public benefit for the use of water. I can also understand wanting to regulate it. There are aquafirs in the US that have been significantly impacted by water and drink distributors. Unfortunately, applying this to other uses of water could put water into play as ... |

Arrg…well, shiver me timbres, Captain Dud has returned for another round of chin butting my fist, so let’s navigate the waters of his litany of mangled prose, moronic mush and insults that only impress the neighbourhood stupid. Come along, mateys, as kicking this fucktard all around the forum isn’t... |

Let's look at SSM. The court can decide that any legislation is under inclusive. It can't write law but it can say that what's currently the law is not consistent with the charter. You don't have to write law. If you can say what does and doesn't pass that's good enough. No, your opinion that what ... |

Did it ever occur to you that it is lax and in need of serious reform because some people want it to work exactly the way it is working? Who exactly? Oh wait, let me guess; the Liberals? Or are you going to Conspiracy theorist on me and say that immigrants have infiltrated the highest levels... |

Also, like it or not Bart, Population growth in Canada DEPENDS on immigration... If you want cheap population growth sure. If you want domestic population growth you'll have to pay for it like anything else. Somehow people are willing to buy that you have to pay CEO's through the roof to get qualit... |

Unfortunately, it seems to me that there are more Canadian voices calling for assimilation than American voices calling for anexation. This is much more disturbing to me. WTF?! :? 8O I spend a bit of time on the UNA site and notice articles that periodically come out of the TStar and Fraser institu... |

Look what the US Supremes have been able to do with the commerce clause then tell me about going overboard. The Canadian Supremes have just had less time to play. Irrelevant. Tell me how the Canadian Supreme Court could become an oligarchy without the ability to enact or propose legislation. Are yo... |

Mustang1 Mustang1: Next time, pick a fight with someone a little lower on the intellectual level as then; maybe, just maybe, you might matter.
I'm off for an afternoon outing so I'll have to respond tonight. I think I found someone sufficiently low on the intellectual scale, thanks. |

BartSimpson BartSimpson: hurley_108 hurley_108: Go ahead, decline trade with Cuba. Criminalize trade with Cuba. Just apply the policy evenly and criminalize trade with China, too. Do you know why we banned trade with Cuba?
Because there's a powerful Cuban Loby that wants their Casinos and resorts back? |

I don't think there's anything the Supreme Court has done to merit the not withstanding clause. The need to have checks on any form of power should be clear enough. Without it in the case of the court you'd have an oligarchy. I agree with the checks on anything, but disagree that without the notwit... |

5. Stephen Harper is right to cancel the project. This sort of approach taken by harm-reductionists is a defeatist mentality that if you can't beat a problem, join it. It would be ludicrous to extend the logic to crimes like murder, rape or theft. That alone should act as sufficient deterrent to th... |

There's insufficient division of powers. The Court only has the not withstanding clause to hem it in. This hasn't really been tested yet, but with an open ended Charter it could and I'd bet will given time. Otherwise, I'd say the flaw is being too big to effectively and efficiently fix regional pro... |
