Gunnair Gunnair:
What are DND's inefficiencies and where is the bloating?

NDHQ. Canada is notoriously bloated in the number of military and civilian administrators for a force our size. Unfortunately that will and never has been where the cuts have ever come.

It's kind of hard to feel bad for them when the real army can't get boots that work and we get re-used kit as well. It's a fact of life and while it's a valuable program I don't see how this is going to break it.

Personally I don't like the new scheme because I find the blue and white overpower the red which to me should have been more prominent. I do like the GoC down the side along with the coat of arms which is nicely done. As for the whole issue with it being painted "conservative blue", nobody...

I would say PS3. I love mine and use it for all sorts of different functions as it fills in as a console, DVD/BluRay player and Netflix. The libraries are virtually identical, but PS3 wins out for other reasons. Blu-Ray is one. Doesn't make sense that X-Box doesn't have it. The online community is m...

but my point is that because of his faith that also becomes for men only . He has every right to operate a business according to his religious beliefs and whether this ONE business doesn't fill her needs is not his problem. Yet in at least two instances that i know about, Christians were fined for ...

While I don't agree with the particular religious belief that he can't touch a woman who isn't a relative (it's backwards and chauvinistic), he provides a certain service, which is haircuts for men . She has numerous alternatives where she can go get a haircut by a barber thereby eliminating any cl...

Having educated yourself thoroughly on the subject, you would have the correct numbers on hand. According to actual government numbers, we spent 11 billion in 93-94 on and it was dropped to a low of 8.8 billion or 20%. 20% is still a considerable cut to any program. I never said the Liberals didn't...

I'd argue some of your points are incorrect, slightly. Yes the Airborne Regiment was eliminated, but most of the Airborne personnel largely moved back to the three lodger units (Van Doos, PPCLI, and RCR), creating the light battalions each unit now has (instead of all that manpower being totally el...

- 20% cut in budget, a 30% cut in personnel (including the Airborne which was a knee jerk decision) - base closures - pay and promotion freezes which killed morale - next to no capital equipment investment resulting in rust out we still haven't recovered from - increased operational tempo further st...

I don't see a big deal. We haven't bought or ordered anything, the contract can be nullified, and we can instead spend the money on some F-18 SuperHornets instead. The opposition will do anything these days to remain somewhat relevant. -J. http://www.f-16.net/f-16_forum_viewtopic-t-14129.html Wrong...

Gunnair Gunnair:
Agreed though I would like an honest look at ground assault helicopters as well.

Well based on my calculations you have 2.5B to spend on some. And weaponizing wouldn't be too bad since they use some of the same ordnance as Reapers.

I think we need to be realistic about what our needs truly are and when we need them filled. The F-35 is arguably the best plane out there right now that is available for export. That being said it is not the best plane for Canada and here is why: Cost: We have a small military with a small budget a...

What a BS article.

First of all the security risks of having the CDS travel commercial are unexceptably high. Second, these planes were bought for this exact purpose so let the military use them. Lastly $1M over three years is nothing compared to the money thrown away in other areas.
