The video is legit. Its from a series called Basic up. This is a really platoon that had a CF camera crew follow them around back in '06 I think. The entire series is up on the CF website and youtube. My course Warrant (actually a PO1) when I went through BMOQ. was the course warrant for this platoo...

It was a a one day spike(PDF) . Like most polls its only a snapshot and is almost worthless when looked at by it self. If you want to take something away from the polls look at the trends. The real story here is the growth of NDP support at the cost of the Grits and the Bloc. For those hoping a NDP ...

I wouldn't read too much into this. This drop is well within the margin of error (+ or - 3.1%). If you if you look at the long term trends (pdf) there has been almost no movement of the conservative's numbers. In fact the only interesting result of the polls seems to be the battle for the left betwe...

Another gun thread? I realize you feel strongly that people should be able to own guns and think gun control is a failed policy (positions that I share BTW). But seriously this is what, the sixth thread about gun control you've started in the last couple of months? At this point everyone has made th...

If you do a degree through RMC you will be posted to the College for the period of time necessary to complete your degree. During this time completing your degree will be your primary responsibility. I believe this is also the case if the CF is paying for you to get a degree from another university....

There are masters programs available paid for by the Forces. I hear that compilation for the limited number of slots available is tough. It helps if your area of study is directly beneficial to the CF. Some are done at RMC while others are at other universities. My first CO did his masters in Englan...

With out the registry the police would have likely found out that he had guns. From the sounds of it he wasn't hiding the fact that he owned guns on his facebook page. Not to mention that even without the registry he still has a PAL which would have come up when the police ran his name. That's one o...

can't say I'm very surprised. Most atheists were raised in religious households and took a serious look at religion on their path to atheism. Most religious people simply accept what their parents and preachers teach them and never question their religion.

Check out S25 of our Charter. Aboriginal Canadians get an exemption on a lot of things. S25 says that Aboriginals retain rights granted to them by treaties and the Royal Proclamation of October 7, 1763. I doubt there is a treaty that says firearms owned by Aboriginals are exempt from registration r...

Although I oppose the registry, if we are going to keep it then the laws that govern it should apply equally to everyone regardless of ethnicity or a troubled history.

You have to register your car, your RV, you have wear a helmet on a bicycle, you cannot smoke indoors or in a Vancouver park, but everybody should be able to freely own a gun? The logic escapes me... The argument that x has to be registered so why not register y is not an argument for registering g...

Yes, it will. Because a number of non-coms and officers will resign or retire if this goes down. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. By that logic they shouldn't have desegregated the military because racist officers and NCOs would leave. Every new policy is going to have its detractors and a few...

Even in the US its not an unconditional right, they don't allow criminals to buy guns, but why let facts get in the way of a good straw man. Criminals don't keep all of their rights when they are convicted. Imprisonment violates their mobility rights and in the States convicts lose both their voting...

Why does anyone pay attention to this guy? What Moore doesn't understand is that there is a key difference between Vietnam and Iraq and Afghanistan. There isn't a draft today. The current bunch of war dodgers aren't avoiding being drafted they all joined knowing they could and probably would be sent...

I'm sure the rounds from something like this (or an AK-47 or M-16) would slice through drywall like a hot knife through butter. That's one of the reasons I think there is no need for civvies to own them. Like you said, odds are you'd kill members of your own family at the same time as you shot John...
