A wooden arch baring the words 'The Last Steps' was unveiled today on the Halifax waterfront near where tens of thousands of Canadian soldiers set off to fight in the First World War, never to return to return home.

    I love it but for one thing. It's made out of wood. I fear some moron will burn it down or break it apart because they feel it would be the righteous thing to do.

    ...and they marched away from a city that was destroyed a couple of years later to the point of looking like a part of war-torn France. Both of the wars were tough on Halifax but the First war was totally devastating.
