There's not much regulation over religion in the US. That's what enables the likes of the Scientologists and the mega-churches to get away with their scams. Rev. Al's merely proof of what religion's been up to for the last 10000 years, and that there's a sucker born every minute.

You get to call yourself professor when you've been hired as such. It's pretty simple, really.

He's the NOAA guy who rewrote the temperature data, when it refused to show a temperature rise as written.

I read a piece where his Obama appointed boss at NOAA was calling him professor a couple of months ago.

Something must have changed, because in 2008 and after I've heard complaints about him going by professor when he doesn't have a PHD.

The last I heard all he had was an honorary doctorate.

Coming from you being called an idiot would have to be a compliment. You dream of the day you could rise to the level where you could consider yourself just an idiot.

I have no problem with her being called "professor"... doesn't change anything in my life.

I taught classes in Lotus 1-2-3 way back... you can call me professor too.

Professor isn't really a formal title, like Doctor is in academia. It's more of a polite form of a dress in the classroom. It doesn't designate a level of mastery like Bachelor(Undergraduate degree holder), Master(Graduate degree holder) or Doctor (Ph.D and up). I usually referred to my Profs who held Ph.Ds as Doctor and all the others as professor....although I did occasionally address Ph.Ds as professor as well.

In Taiwan all teachers from nursery school to university are referred to as ?? (L?osh?)rather than Mr. Mrs. Ms. or Dr. So and So. It simply means teacher.

Hmm, given that criteria and the fact that at one point or another during my career I taught Seamanship, Demolitions, Small Arms, Leadership and Drill, I guess all you plebians can call me Professor to.


But to be honest. Who would have thought that I and Ms Jolie would ever have achieved those lofty heights in Academia. It just goes to show you what a little hard work and blantant pandering can accomplish.
