The Cincinnati Zoo has temporarily closed its gorilla exhibit after a special zoo response team shot and killed a 17-year-old gorilla that grabbed and dragged a 4-year-old boy who fell into a moat.

What a shame. Toddlers should not be able to fall into animal enclosures. What if there were lions or such in there.

Hard to say. Why don't you hop on the bus out to the Aldergrove game farm, jump the fence at the Big Cats enclosure and tell us how it works out for you.

You want the cats to develop sepsis? People care about those big cats.

They should have shot the parent and let the gorilla raise the kid. Much better parenting skills.

Yet another reason to get rid of zoos in favour of wildlife sanctuaries.

Unfortunately the gorillas will continue to decline as they and their habitats are destroyed in Africa by farmers and poachers. Governments have to be a little more proactive and aggressive in protecting both.

The DR Congo has a parks division that is armed and tasked with protecting mountain gorillas. But very much underfunded. :(

Why are there so few whales and so many chickens? Get McDonalds to put gorilla on the menu and their numbers will flourish. If you want to save a species, start eating it. Give it an economic reason to exist.

Kinda defeats the whole point of keeping wild species alive tho. The world as just one big farm.

They do eat them in Rwanda and Burundi.

Only because they haven't discovered chickens.

You care if the wild species survives?
