How can something be fun when you don't actually remember what you did?

How can something be fun when it hurts so much the next day?

How can something be fun when you wake up sleeping with someone you would never have sex with if you were sober?

Because drinking takes the social inhibitions away. It allows us to act more the way we would had we not developed civilised culture. This lack of conscience, lack of care, and lack of guilt is incredibly euphoric. In the moment, it's a great place to be.

It's ironic too, because it's thought that the major reason we developed farming was to produce more alcohol. That, and adorning ourselves with metals as a fashion statement, led to modern civilization.
