I had to go into work about 2:30 this morning, and I saw the flags were at half staff as I walked past the Leg, and wondered 'who died?'

    Best Quebec import ever! R=UP

    RIP. R=EM

Seemed a decent enough chap. Not sure if he could have avoided the scandals that set in because the PC deadwood and good ol' boys network was firmly entrenched in the last years of Lougheed anyway, kind of like he was Alberta's version of unlucky Paul Martin who couldn't avoid the traps that had been set for him by Chretien. Probably would have had a much better fate if the province hadn't been so wrecked by the NEP and the world oil price collapse. Anyone who can't remember how bad the mid to late 1980's were for Alberta obviously didn't live here at the time because that was the worst it ever got, at least up until about twenty months ago. RIP regardless. :|
