    It's a hate crime but he likely won't be charged with a hate crime since he's black.

    Toronto - A New York City man has been charged with attempted murder in a machete attack in downtown Toronto.

    Police said the unprovoked attack against a 30-year-old man occurred on around 5 p.m. Wednesday, near the Eaton Centre, Canada�s largest retail mall, on the busiest shopping day of the season. The victim suffered serious injuries to his head and leg.

    Thirty-five-year-old Arlington Thompson of Queens has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.

    He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.

    Police say there may be more victims.

    An eye witness Terence Yip tweeted that the attacker, a black man, yelled �F�k white people� before allegedly attacking the victim, who is white.

    Bravo to that security guard though tackling the guy with the machete for $14/hr. His bravery literally might have saved that guys life, as well as the attackers. They are not highly compensated or trained for those type of incidents. I think protocol was probably to call the police but if he hadn't acted, who knows.

    I noticed he and his colleague were wearing stab proof vests and both had handcuffs so I'm guessing that they got more training than the usual run of the mill security guard. It also looked like they were from 2 different security companies which I found odd.
