Republican U.S. presidential candidate Ben Carsons plan to have the military and National Guard patrol the U.S.-Canada border is being called a ludicrous and unfeasible idea by Canadian border experts.

Good idea. Let's hope those troops also stop all the guns and drugs flowing north. Of course that would be un-American.

I'm no longer hoping that the current crop of GOP candidates will finally reach the bottom level of stupid and bounce back to reality. It's not possible because the well of ignorance they draw their "policies" from is a bottomless pit. They're simply going to get dumber and dumber as time goes by and nothing can be done to prevent it. :|

It's official. The Republican Nomination race has become a contest to see who can make the most outrageous statements because, given the Donald's double digit lead that's what seems to sell. ROTFL

If one of these morons becomes POTUS and implements something like this I hope JT refuses to co-operate in any way, shape, or form with it. Basically have nothing at all to do with it and issue a blanket statement along the lines of "the government of Canada will not endorse or participate in any attempt by the United States to unnecessarily militarize the border between our two respective countries". He's already going to be in enough trouble with these 'tards down there that think this way with his plans to legalize pot. Might as well go for broke and stop co-operating altogether in any more of the wacky ideas that are building up in the US. The economy is shot anyway, and isn't going to get better any time soon, so there's limits on what the US can do in terms of retaliation. I'm fairly pro-American but I see no reason at all anymore to indulge them when their wild paranoia about Canada keeps popping up over and over and over again. Instead of blaming us why don't they just quit issuing work/travel/student visas to every most-likely-to-be-a-terrorist lunatic that comes along?

Ignorance and the root of paranoi.
Look at a fucking map and tell me how you can even build a wall along the BC - Alaska border.
The tards know jack shit about the country next door and won;t even look at a map. Or they're so stunned if they do look at a map that will 'prove' the border is flat...

Huckabee wants Americans to stop asking for stuff from their Government and for Americans to start going over to fight ISIS instead. Makes some more sense than Carson, but at the same time seems to relegate American citizens as cannon fodder for the US Government.

Big talk coming from Huckabee considering he's just another chickenhawk that never served in uniform a single day in his life. It's bad when all these hyper-militant GOP'ers are just itching to push the button and Trump (with his days in military school when he was a kid) is the only one of the bunch to even come close to having served in the forces. I remember when they were giving Bill Clinton shit back in the early 1990's for not having served because he allegedly "won't give a damn about our people in uniform". Yet, aside from Bush Junior, all the worst of the Republican warmongers since 9/11 never served themselves at all either. None of the Israel-lobbying Likudnik cretins from the neo-con think-tanks in DC that goaded Dumbya into attacking Iraq served and it's even arguable that a vicious rotten blood-drinker like Dick Cheney more than went out of his way to dodge the Vietnam draft with bogus deferment after deferment after deferment. IMO these guys have been as reckless with American military lives, and almost completely contemptuous of the stress that the last thirteen years of war that's been placed on American military families, as that collection of incompetent frat boys and rich men's sons who became generals on the Union side in the early years of the Civil War proved themselves so successful at getting as many as possible of their own men killed and maimed  .

    This is Stage 2

LAS VEGAS Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson has publicly demanded that the US-Canadian border be secured by stationing US Navy submarines along its entire stretch.

We need to demonstrate the full might of the American military in order to dissuade terrorists, announced Dr. Carson on his way into the GOP debate, and the best way to do that is to deploy our most powerful weapons of war along our most precarious naval boundary: the Canadian border.

That way we can prevent another 9/11 where, as everyone knows, terrorists swam across the Canadian border in order to hijack the planes that were sitting on the other side, he added.

Carsons plan, published in further detail on his website, would see submarines airlifted from Navy shipyards across the US and dropped at regular intervals onto the predominantly dry land which makes up the 8,891 kilometre-long boundary. The vessels would continue to be manned by a full crew, including a captain and dive officer, despite the fact that they would be rendered completely immobile.

I see nothing wrong with this.
A border is a border. All borders need to be defended.

Canada is already part of the United States.

U.S. President Barack Obama and Congress "should immediately deploy the National Guard and military troops to patrol the U.S. southern border as well as designated spots along the northern border," the plan reads.

Designated spots along the northern border is not the entire border.

And if this actually happens then wouldn't one of the beneficiaries be ? After all I hear a lot of complaints about guns being smuggled into Canada and if the US is actually guarding our side of the border then that act would necessarily reduce smuggling especially from people like the Mohawks whose smuggling operations you folks are too damned PC to interfere with.

As I said, it would be great if the troops actually dealt with contraband going north. Doubt they would tho, especially with those sacred objects. I mean "what area you doing hiking north with that backpack full of guns?" "Oh, I just like to carry them, as is my constitutional right, since I'm not a Muslim." "Oh, OK. Cpl, escort this fine person to the easiest crossing at the border."

Replacing the Border Patrol with military would cut the size of government.
