The hacktivist group Anonymous has declared war on ISIS after the Paris Attacks. And, they're already claiming some early success - thousands of Twitter accounts shut down. McMaster University cyber security expert Ken Owen explains what Anonymous can do

Wonder if taking down the twitter accounts is such a smart thing. Presumably intelligence organizations have been monitoring some of those accounts and collecting valuable data from them? Maybe better for them to instead find and publish the names of the account owners, conduct cyber-warfare against them, and character assassination, etc.

Disrupting ISIS operations and communications sounds fine to me whether we do it with a keyboard or a cluster bomb.

Fucking wankers should go back to their mothers basements and get back to tossing off to Kardasian cartoons. How many terrorists have be targeted for missiles simply by logging on to twitter? If they want to help (and why didn't they offer since day one?) then approach the authorities and ask them how they can help. the US Army worked with the mafia during WWII to ensure security on the docks, so why not.

Exactly. These pompous self righteous little asshats will run their mouth about taking on ISIS but, as soon as the shit hits the fan from their imprudent actions they'll be right back to cowering in their mommy's basement just like they did after they mouthed off to the Cartels.

What they seem to be forgetting is that if the Cartels can find them ISIS sure as hell can to.

As the Zetas's actions show, any fears would be well-founded. "Are we afraid? Clearly so. Do we fear for our lives? Obviously. Notwithstanding that, we think it is time to say 'enough,'" according to a statement from the purported organisers posted on the website Anonymous IberoAmerica. "We will go ahead with the operation, because people have asked us to."

Two hacker members of "Operation Cartel", which said earlier this week that it would expose members of the murderous cartel, have now indicated that they are stopping their scheme to identify collaborators and members because they don't want anyone to be killed as a result.
