This will be one lion-sized internet shaming party.

Let's hope so, since the dentist likely won't face any other sanctions. And that dickhead guide saying shooting animals is honoring them.

Funny, I was watching Game of Thrones last night and that's what they were telling the slaves they were throwing into the fight pit.

This is vanity pure and simple.

I think the guide meant that it honours his pocketbook, not the animal.

    I don't get it.
I eat meat and fish and realize an animal needs to be killed, for my dinner table.

But these animals are free roaming entities and an integral aspect of the environment they inhabit.

    I get culling.

But killing such a noble animal for one's sport.

It all comes down to one guy's sport is the world's loss.

Poaching and big game hunting have parallels.

Both kill to profit one's ego or financial gain.

    despicable !!!

"Jericho as a single male will be unable to defend the two prides and cubs from new males that invade the territory. This is what we most often see happening in these cases. Infanticide is the most likely outcome," he said.

Yes, having two prides of cubs killed certainly honours Cecil.

Take a look at some of those pics. The guy has a Putin complex, or maybe Putin has a dentist complex.

Remember this thread and your posts when you complain about some animal rights freak in the USA kvetching about culling baby seals or hunting polar bears.

They were hard to look at. As was his 'list'. Nevada Bighorn? :(

I hunt. But one rule I have always had is I eat what I kill. If I'm not going to eat it, it stays in the forest. I don't take 'trophies'.

We will, because both of those animals are taken for food, not trophies.

    I get hunting and eating.

No one eats Rhino's or Lions or Elephant.

Trophies ...there are enough of them in museums and such.

Yeah there's no reason to kill a lion other than vanity. It's not a contest. It stopped being a contest hundreds of years ago.

I wouldn't wish an internet wshaming party on anyone though. Not even this Putin wannabe.

People hunt polar bears for food?

    Their endangered almost, aren't they?

Do Inuit eat polar bear? That I can see, but some guy from Toronto ?

Is bear meat something an urbanite would want to eat ?

Seals are mostly taken for their fur. Lots of trophy hunters go after polar bears. Do inuit eat polar bear? Sounds awful. And the liver is toxic because of the high vit A levels - people have died eating it.
