The United States, frustrated over the lack of progress with Canada over new rules for agriculture trade, is weighing "contingencies" that could include completing a Pacific Rim trade pact that excludes Canada, according to two sources familiar with the i

I guess we'll have to switch to just subsidizing agriculture directly, the way the US to be allowed to play in this club.

Don't forget to thank Obama because he's the guy behind this whole thing.

I don't think we have to much to worry about.

The negotiations got a boost last month when the U.S. Congress approved "fast-track" authority for President Barack Obama, which allows him to negotiate trade pacts knowing that Congress can approve or reject such deals, but not amend them.

There's a better chance of hell freezing over than of Congress passing any deals that Obama signs. ROTFL

Convenient to blame one man for Canada's International trading woes and inability to sign a comprehensive agreement. Who do we blame for the last 75 years of sitting beside the largest consumer economy in the world, our #1 trading partner and we still cannot run a surplus?

As someone who has dealt with the Canadian apparatus for a long time, take it from me, we are not a nation meant to operate on free market principles, we are not an economic system designed to florish in a competitive globalization model. If we can't close a deal it is because many countries see the same problems that others see.

Karl Marx, given that many of his ideas are used to formulate Canadian economic and tax policies.

Based on your suggestion, what will the fate of Canada be with the increasing competitive and globalized world upon us?

Here's what I think: "see Ontario". That is the microcosm of Canada's future. A jurisdiction that can't attract foreign businesses even while offering one of the lowest business tax rates in North America. I'm just the messenger, hold your fire. You can discuss amongst yourself why this is the case...

The TPP is a pustule on national sovereignty. If Canada gets cut out, which is not about to happen, good for Canada.

I wish the rest of the countries involved would cut out the US.

If we don't get in, it would be reason to thank Obama.

Based on what I've read about TPP, it has all the bad clauses from NAFTA (on steroids no less) with fewer benefits.

Pacific Rim? How about Atlantic Rim, where a Category 5 kaiju saves the human race by erupting out of Long Island Sound and eats Wall Street.
