Dam I need to move back to San Antonio TX . On second thought my USCG Det. is heading to Texas the 1st thru 2nd to assist in SAR and disaster response. Where giving a bit of relief to our Corpus Christi Station, so they can assist Houston. We may also the USAF between Austin and San Antonio on the 3rd.

It's estimated that Britain alone has some 85 sharia courts in operation.

In Belgium, a radical Muslim group called Sharia4Belgium recently established an Islamic Sharia law court in Antwerp. Leaders of the group say the purpose of the court is to create a parallel Islamic legal system in Belgium in order to challenge the state's authority as enforcer of the civil law protections guaranteed by the Belgian constitution. Sharia4Belgium says the court in Antwerp will eventually expand its remit and handle criminal cases as well.

A German legal expert and former investigative journalist for ARD German public television, says Islamic Sharia courts are now operating in all of Germany's big cities.

This "parallel justice system" is undermining the rule of law in Germany, Wagner says, because Muslim arbiters-cum-imams are settling criminal cases out of court without the involvement of German prosecutors or lawyers before law enforcement can bring the cases to a German court.

I imagine that sort of behaviour isn't going to be tolerated for long. Wouldn't be the first time Muslims were run out of Europe.

But . . Texas?

I don't see the problem with this law. It may just be frivolous, but it sends a clear message. Now if they just live up to that message.

That's the part I don't care for. Double standard?

The danger with courts like this is that women can be forced to participate against their own best interests. And especially worrying is child support and custody. We have laws with real teeth in them for support - these religious courts will likely be way too biased towards the husbands, to the possible detriment of the kids.


Have no courts other than the secular ones we have now (which is why don't allow 10 commandments to be posted), or at the very least make our secular courts sign off on any decision made by a religious court.

But what I don't see is how Jews deciding divorce according to their religion is no big deal to people, but letting Muslims do the same thing is the beginning of the Goetterdaemmerung.

Because Jewish law when it comes to divorce isn't nearly as messed up as sharia law is. Women actually have RIGHTS in the Jewish courts. Yes, women can be forced to participate against their own best interests, but guess what there sport-o, so can men, and they have.

Have you ever heard of a single sharia case where the decision came down in favour of the woman? I sure haven't.

Although I do agree with you in principle, there should only be ONE arbiter of the law in Canada and that's our own secular court system. Courts based on religious "law" have no place in Western society.

You must be very well informed. I've never heard of one decision that any religious court has made. But I do know that the Hasidim can be very restrictive of women, so I very much doubt that women's interests are properly looked after in their courts. And that would mean that children's interests are also neglected. As I say, if they want their courts, they should at least be signed off by our secular courts to make sure everything is on the up and up.

When people get arrested and prosecuted for 'hate speech' because they say something the goat f*cking followers of the false prophet don't like then that's Sharia Law.
