holy shit. This sort of crap and the games played by big Pharma could bring down the whole scientific enterprise - no wonder people mistrust science these days. Not only peer review, but the fact few experiments are replicated because it's in nobody's interest to do so.

Also suspicious was that "The Journal of Vibration and Control" featured an article praising the movie 50 Shades of Grey.

BioMed Central isn't exactly JAMA or NEJM.........or anything remotely like them either. Did there need to be another study of Kirschner wire? The shit has been used since the turn of the last century and is used for pretty much anything that requires sticking 2 or more pieces of bone together. Farmers would call it baling wire.

The studies are pretty lame to begin with. They have about the same impact on medicine as university student has on a world of medicine.

Bet all the orthopods couldn't wait to get their hands on that one.
I'd be worried about clicking on the link.

Really cool video of a surgeon taking out some K-Wire. Just zip up to the 2:30 mark when the cast is off. All down hill from there. 8) 8)

Mini-plate versus Kirschner wire internal fixation for treatment of metacarpal and phalangeal fractures in Chinese Han population: a meta-analysis

Resident surgeon: You know Dr. Jones I read this study out of China that said plates and screws are the way to go here.

Dr. Jones: Shut up and put the fucking wire in before I stick it in you ear.

    Resident surgeon: Yes sir.
