It was only a matter of time for this. Most "Green Party" members are just rats themselves.

If Green Party members are to assert that they are equal to rodents then I will honor their assertion and treat them accordingly.

I don't think they were asserting equal rights for rodents.

I don't agree wholeheartedly wiht their position, but I certainly like to see legislation in Canada protecting laboratory animals and food animals from cruelty. I don't mind the killing of animlas, I just believe that we should show more respect to them when they are alive.

I find it an odd dichotomy that quite often the very same people who agitate for giving animals human rights advocate denying those rights to humans.

It's a genuine shame where the entirely reasonable, and (dare I say it) Christian concept of kindness towards the other creatures that God is supposed to be the creator of, gets hijacked by some lunatics with an insane political agenda. That being said I find those with the casual cruelty towards animals to be far, far worse than even the PETA types. Like the song said,

The Mariner's bound to tell of his story
To tell his tale wherever he goes
To teach God's word by his own example
That we must love all things that God made

    - Iron Maiden, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Lyrics

Hard to get this idea through though to the deaf & insanely obstinate members of a specie that invented things like industrial fishing trawlers and drift nets that can cover an area of 100 x 100 square kilometers. I'm really not kidding all that much when I say I'm going to be cheering for the asteroid or comet that finally hits us and writes the last chapter of the story of the humans. With what we've thoughtlessly and greedily done, and are still doing, to the other creatures on this planet we really kind of deserve it. :|

We are just doing what all living things must do. The illusion is thinking we have a choice in the matter.

Kilgore Trout once wrote a short story which was a dialogue between two pieces of yeast. They were discussing the possible purposes of life as they ate sugar and suffocated in their own excrement. Because of their limited intelligence, they never came close to guessing that they were making champagne.

The other creatures don't seem to have the same tendency to choke the life out of everything else that surrounds them. The harshness of nature has been trumped by a factor of a million by the one animal that has successfully removed itself entirely from the bounds (and innate morality) of nature. The clowns from the Greens and PETA are entirely ridiculous in giving rights to creatures that have no concept of understanding what they are. 'Rights' don't exist in nature anyway. The thing that's much worse than any of the silliness the Greens/PETA dream up though is the widespread belief (generated out of greed, religion, or from sheer indifference) that humans have no obligations at all to the other lifeforms on this planet that would philosophically and morally stop us from abusing them so badly. If one is sentient enough to conceive of a higher principle like obligations then one has a duty to follow through on it. Falling back on "it's our nature to be indifferent" can't be used by those who, the rest of the time, are so proud of having left the world of nature behind.

The PETA people live in a technological womb. Same with the Greenpeace types, for the most part. They are bred in urban environments, as far removed from nature as you can get. In nature, their last words would probably be "But Mr. Lion, why are you killing me. I just wanted to help!"

While Greenpeace is destroying artifacts in South America, Ducks Unlimited (generally supported by hunters and farmers) has upgraded some 8700 wetland habitats in the last ten years.

I am not indiffernet, incidentally. It's just that all my research--and I've done a lot of it--has led me to believe that colectively we act much the same way as a collection of yeast cells. Personally, I quite like animals. I've got a dog and a cat and in my single days one of the (very few) conditions I had for a girl friend was that she like animals. I don't trust people that don't like dogs.

It'd be an interesting study as to exactly why collective human stupidity is accelerating and getting worse. Why exactly is the combined herd of the dominant animal acting in a manner identical to that of a petri dish full of single-celled yeast. How is basic intelligence, not to mention the simplest bit of wisdom, being so badly trumped by such moronic levels of greed, a greed that far exceeds any natural selfishness that is required for a comfortable level of survival.

Like I've said, this is why I'm cheering for the asteroid. I won't be having any children this late in my life so at least my own personal responsibility/guilt over my own contribution to the devastation will end when I end. :|

PS: it's also as smart a thing to do to not trust people that dogs don't like.

Then again no one else likes them either. At least no one sensible, that is.

Wisdom, alas, is not a hertiable trait. Every generation, every life, must learn its lessons anew. And intelligence? Well look at climate change. You've got intelligent people on both sides. Mark Steyn is no dummy. Michale Mann is no dummy. So all that vaunted intelligence ends up being a zero sum game.

My plan is to protect my little corner of the planet. Asteroid would be quick I suppose, but all things considered I'd rather overdose on hookers and blow.

My dog goes out of her way to leave a steaming double coiler on their doorsteps.
