People sure are desperate to leave Toronto for some reason. Perhaps they should try catapults.

Apparently this makes me racist, but ss soon as I hear "York", and in particular "York University", I think the Islam angle.

Myself though, I like to think of it as refusing to ignore the obvious.

Although I should qualify that. I also wonder about the useful idiot angle, as in far left extremism.

Smells like the kind of tunnels that Hamas builds in Gaza. Sophisticated, reinforced, powered, ventilated.

It's going to be so bitterly disappointing to everyone if this turns out to be a non Muslim thing...

I won't be disappointed. Not in the least. I was just noting that the level of sophistication allegedly employed in this tunnel is more like Gaza than Tijuana.

Word is that it's a survivalist thing. It was built by "Leafs Nation" in preparation of hell freezing over.

The story reminds me of another one from out here just a couple of years ago, where a newly-constructed confinement room was discovered by chance in an old abandoned farmhouse that the government had expropriated decades ago.

I think some perv intended for this to be a "it puts on the lotion or it gets the hose" type of thing, ala silence of the lambs. Doesn't otherwise seem to be related to drugs, terrorism or organized crime.

It's not very sophisticated, there are no cross (horizontal) support members so the tunnel could easily collapse in from the sides.

I doubt there were any nefarious reasons behind it.

Just because they builder(s)weren't 100% expert doesn't mean they didn't have nefarious intentions. They still put a considerable amount of time and effort into this thing - more than your average person would or could do just for a lark. And nobody has yet come forward despite all the media attention.

The rosery and poppy makes me think nefarious. Almost like, oh don't worry, we are Christian and we support the troops, nothing to see here.

I mean, who really carries those things around and leaves them ? seems like a means of throwing us off the trail, so to speak.

Some professor of subterranean engineering on the radio said hanging a rosary is a superstitious tradition among miners and tunnelers
