Shock and sadness pervade Edmonton today after a man shot and killed six adults and two children and then himself, as authorities try to determine what led to the city's worst mass killing in recent history.

    Why do they always kill the kids?

    I can undeerstand, on one level, wanting to kill your ex. I can even see a situation where her family could seem like targets as well. But the kids...

    Many kill the kids because they are under the delusion they kids can't manage without them. I doubt that was the case here, just somebody in a killing frenzy going after anybody related to the family. Also, maybe there are people still alive he couldn't get to and wanted to hurt.
