On Monday, just after 10 a.m. ET, the family was on Highway 7 near Trafalgar Road when they noticed a man driving directly behind them, following too closely and looking for an opportunity to pass, say police.
    Trafalgar and Highway 7

Somehow, I doubt it was that simple.

From the news reports, it seems that it was. The guy was pissed off that the family wasn't speeding enough. The guy turned himself into police, and is facing a number of charges.

People sure seem to be extra angry on the roads lately. I had one bitch tailgate me yesterday so close that I couldn't see her car behind me. Doing 110km/h! As she finally passed, I noticed 2 child car seats in the back.

Anyone who drives around with a block of steel in their vehicle within easy reach of the driver's seat is a ticking time bomb. Unfortunately for this family it was wrong place/wrong time.

I don't think so. There could be all sorts of non threatening reasons for carrying all sorts of objects that can be used as a weapon, but aren't meant to be. When the 'red veil' takes you, you grab whatever is handy.

I think people just need to slow down a little. Relax. Take their time. Doing 130 in a 110 zone will only save you 5 minutes over a half hour trip. Is your life worth 5 minutes? Are the lives of everyone else on the road worth 5 minutes?

That's why I choose to come to work 90 minutes early; to skip the really terrible drivers during the rush hours. Driving to work is actually pleasant now.

Steel blocks must be banned. For the children.

If you're susceptible to "red veil", maybe you shouldn't drive... or own a gun, or knife, or any sharp and/or heavy object.

Kind of what the article says. People don't know it's road rage, they think that road rage is normal because they've been doing it so long.

A life-long ban on driving might solve the problem... might send a clear message to others too.

Didn't know if this existed so I looked it up...

Everyone is in such a hurry. And for what? What do you really save? 10 seconds. On a good day.

People have completely lost their minds. This society is quickly becoming one with little, if any, regard for fellow human beings. There's little left of respect, courtesy, and basic decent treatment of the people around us.

    As in what?

I don't care if the victim was driving deliberately slow to piss him off, giving him the finger while calling his mother a whore. You don't toss heavy metal objects through windows of moving cars to not only injure them for sure but possibly have them lose control and die in a crash.

Only reason he turned himself in was because he found out they knew his license plate so the story says. Not because he had a crisis of conscience.

Funny how it happened so fast.

Funny to see you look for some sort of justification for this type of behaviour.

Ex-hit man walks away from road rage incident

One danger of road rage is never knowing who is driving the car that is the target of your fury. This was highlighted when a man confronted a driver after a traffic incident and behind the wheel was a serial-killing Mafia hit man notorious for his explosive temper and propensity for violence.

    . . .

Once, when emerging from jail and looking for a job, he walked into Bannisters, a large and rough strip club in the heart of Hamiltons downtown, and asked the head of security for a job as a bouncer. We already have somebody, the man said, pointing to a large man standing outside the DJs booth. Murdock walked through the club, jogged up the stairs to the bouncer, and without a word beat him up.

    (I) gave him a couple of shots to the head, kicked him while he was down. He got up and I told him to f off, he didnt work here anymore. When the man in charge of security tried to break the fight up, he too was thrown down by Murdock. I got my job, he later said.
    . . .
When asked if he would have killed someone for $1,000, Murdock replied: If it was for the family, I would have done it for nothing.
    ...
Recently, though, came an unexpected test when he was involved in a traffic incident with another motorist. The incident took place in the past few months in an unspecified city, probably in British Columbia, and was revealed at his latest review by the Parole Board of Canada.

The motorist followed Murdock and confronted him, exchanging words with him. He described the situation as one of the difficult ones he has faced in the community.

You did walk away from this situation, the board said.

If this guy can walk away from 'the red veil', any of us can.

I don't think that man had a 'red veil'. The mafioso just does his job. The road rage thing was not his job.
Had family been involved there, things wouldn't have ended up so nicely.
