At the same time, the conference is being held at headquarters for the bands ACDEN group of companies, which earns tens of millions in revenues from industrial contracts with oil-sands producers. While he has called for strict environmental regulations and a halt to many new projects, Chief Adam said we dont want to stop development, we dont want to shut it down.

Those "GREEDY" bastards! XD I wonder if Tutu can pull his foot out of his mouth faster than Trudope?

Somebody should tell Tutu that one of the biggest ecological threats to the human race is the run-away fecundity of Africans.

This guy has got a real hardon for Canada, must be a Putin fan. :P

Fucking drama queen should go home and find a cure for all the ill's that his idiotic statements have caused in South Africa before he comes to someone else's country and moralizes to them.

Of course Desmond Tutu, as a South African archbishop, is an expert on petrochemical development in Canada.

So according to the Globe and Mail some legal firm and an Indian band paid for this junket.

    Who here believes that?

Remember the good ol' days when an actual journalist would investigate an obvious BS claim like that?

I think the good Archbishop had a little
    too much communion wine.

It leaves him with foot in mouth disease.

And doesn't seem to have any problems with oil from the Middle East.

    I really wonder who's bank-rolling him.

This reminds my of the Mark Twain quote:

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt

The good Archbishop has removed all doubt.

You'd think that someone like Tutu, a media-created fame whore if there ever was one, would be able to find something closer to home to try to fix. Like how post-apartheid South Africa has 18000 murders and 65000 rapes per year. But, whatever, celebrity has it's own way of doin' thangs, I suppose.

PS: McMurray does suck and so do the companies up there. It is all completely evil but unfortunately it's a necessary one. :|

Here's some of his quotes about South Africa's extensive use of Coal for electricity, use that easily dwarves the carbon dioxide emissions of the oilsands:
