Most Canadian song line ever: "Running from the crack of dawn till Knowlton reads the news." Stan Rogers

How many here thought 'The National' was about Knowlton when they were kids?

He interviewed Che Guevara after the Cuban revolution.

He was the only reporter allowed in to Cuba during the missile crisis.

He was a regular in Bobby Kennedy's household, and regretted that relationship because he thought it made him less objective after Bobby's assassination.

He was good friends with Peter Jennings who anchors news in the US, as both their fathers used to work anchor at CBC in the 30's.

Having just his glasses on the Anchor desk was kind of surreal.

I thought that very line when this thread first popped up. RIP to both of them. Knowlton and Stan Roger were both icons of a generation.
