Almost 200 suspected members of the Boko Haram were killed today by residents of Rann, the headquarters of Kala-Balge local government area in north eastern part of Borno State, officials and locals from the area said.

Looks like the villagers are more effective than the army. Maybe just arm them.

It was learnt that people of Kala-Balge have used various methods, including prayers in protecting their town.

An opinion leader from the area, who was in Maiduguri Wednesday said: �We killed almost 200 of them. We believe in the power of Allah that no mortal will subdue us and no aggressor will trample on our freedom. As law abiding citizens, we don�t look for trouble and no trouble maker will celebrate victory when he comes to our land. This is why attempts by the Boko Haram on our villages keep failing�.
