Saturday night was the final NHL game for Oilers legend Ryan Smyth. NHL players, including many teammates, took to Twitter to congratulate No. 94 on his great career.

I think this is one of the saddest days I've every had. What a loss to our team, and to the game.

I came across this blog this morning that sums up Smytty's career, and character, very well.

    Always loved, and never forgotten.

Ryan Smyth wore his heart on his sleeve, and never thought twice about donning the Maple Leaf. Ryan Smyth is a class act all the way.

Ryan Smyth leaves and Kevin Lowe Mac-T are still there, somethings not right and kudos to the Canucks for showing true sportsmanship except maybe the one player who told Smyth he met him when he was 10 years old.

Nice post Rose, what better way to open the new building than to retire his number opening night.

I have a feeling I'll be watching him play with his brother Kevin on our Senior AAA team, just not sure if Kevin has another year left in him tho.
