Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is convicted on charges that he accepted bribes, free trips and other gratuities from contractors in exchange for helping them secure millions of dollars in city work while he was in office, including right after Hurrica

    In other news, Detroit City Council has thanked New Orleans for overshadowing Detroit when it comes to corrupt municipal officials. They hope to stay out of the limelight for at least a week, before one of them says something stupid, or abuses their power.

    Sad, but nothing new for New Orleans. I remember reading after Katrina, there was something like 50 NOPD officers and officials in jail for various corruption and related charges.
