It looks like they are going to retire the Sea Kings before replacements ready to go. I suppose, since more and more of the Navy is going to be tied up by the accountants, it won't matter if those ships have any capability or not anyway. How typically, cynically Canadian this all is.

Jesus, the quagmire that is the Canadian Forces continues. What a disservice to those who wear the uniform. The cyclone was supposed to be in service years ago... Time to look at an 'off the shelf' option.

In ancient Rome, when someone failed as completely as Sikorsky has, they would fall on their swords.

    Where's your frackin' sword Sikorsky?!?

And here I was hoping that the Conservatives would actually cancel this program - guess they are too scared to give the other party's ammunition about cancellation penalties (Lord knows they love using that on the Liberals).

This chopper is DOA and we should be looking at alternatives, not still throwing good money after bad on the Cyclone.

One thing I will never understand about procurement - If you're procuring to replace equipment in a role that it performed admirably in, and that role has not changed, why do you need a whole new vehicle? I'm not suggesting refurbishment, but building a new vehicle based off the old design and specs.

Example - Why couldn't they take the MLVW design, update the cab, gauges, lighting, rear seating, radio setup, etc, throw a cummins in it, and call it a done deal? Currently 2 different trucks trying to fill that role and neither does a very good job where I've seen them used/used them myself.
