Attiwpaiskat, Native Democracy at it's finest. They talk a good fight about being inclusive but have no problem ensuring that the very people they drove off their reserve because of no jobs, no housing and no hope can't get rid of them.

Does this crap remind you of someone else?

And the Thief Spence legacy rolls merrily along. This fat, self-aggrandizing pig has just proven she's not the least bit interested in what's best for her people.

    Riiiighhht....

I lived in Alberta for a few years, should I be able to vote in Alberta provincial elections? Calgary and Edmonton municipal ones?

That fat wench Allison Mugabe won't let me! Have you seen her salary, and the house she lives in while children in Alberta starve?

You guys say stupid things sometimes.

Wow just wow. yep the reserve system keeps working it's wonders.

I can't wait till we have a government with enough backbone to scrap it or we get enough "other brown people" telling these guys to get thier paws out of our wallets.

You think immigrants will put up with this first nations garbage once they become a large enough segment of our populace?

The difference is, eligibilty for normal municipal or provincial elections is based on residency. Native bands base most of their stuff on race. Whether you live on the reserve or off you're still a member of the band. As well, even in non-race based elections remote voting is allowed. If i take a camp job in NWT I can still vote in Alberta. Military personnel leave their homes for work(basically) and they can still vote in the place they come from.

Oh for sure, I compare Stephen Harper to Robert Mugabe all the time. They're practically the same person.

Curtman the fact the post is literately just up the page from your own and you still failed to understand FOG was comparing Mugabe to Spencer and not Harper just shows why so many question your level of comprehension on a regular basis.

    Obvious guy, posts obvious posts.

You make Theresa Spence the poster-woman for all that is wrong with reserves in Canada, and that makes it ok?

    Idiocy.

It would certainly explain the constant pandering to all things pro pot. Still in that case one would expect a more cited use of the words "dude" and "bro" :P

Reserve elections aren't like Provincial or Municipal elections. Different and unique rules.

Perhaps you should inform yourself before you accuse people of saying stupid things AFTER you make a stupid comment yourself.

So Theresa Spence is Robert Mugabe because she wont let people who live somewhere else vote, unless they travel to the reserve to do it? They can if they want.

Of the First Nations 3,351 members, just 1,862 live on the reserve, according to July 2013 numbers from Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada.

Electoral officer Louie Noah told The Canadian Press that Spence received 214 of the 507 votes cast.

The problem is not Theresa Spence, it's apathy and hopelessness. But go ahead and continue your name calling everyone, I'm sure it helps. I suggest you guys look at the other candidates who were running against her. Did anyone here pick a favourite to win? Since you're all so very interested in the outcome of this election for some reason.
