Italy's centre-left narrowly wins the vote for the lower house of parliament but ex-PM Silvio Berlusconi's party says the election is "too close to call".

No surprise, this won't help anything in Europe either.

This is why we don't want an elected senate.

Unbelievable that Italians can keep voting for that idiot.

Which idiot, the decrepid ex Commie who just lost what should have been a 'gimme' win,
or the party which selected him, which should have chosen a younger guy to change things ?

Or the Ferrari driving convicted felon who won't be able to sit in Parliament ?

    Some choice.

No, the Italians wanted to make a bigger mess, and they have.. congrats to them.

    Next election coming soon.

Well, if he's an ex-commie, what's the problem. You're saying they need a Justin Trudeau?

An appointed Senate could have yielded a divided government, too.

Nope. An appointed senate doesn't have the political clout - look at ours. We only have problems with gridlock with minority parliments, and even those have never been as problematic as yours, since that would just result in another election.

If you are going to have two houses of equal political power, you need to find a way to resolve the kind of situation we see in Italy. Of course another election might do that.

Wrong a appointed senate can be stacked and rigged, no better then a elected senate which can be hung like the US. Cut playing socialist and communist poker.
