Some birds take down cats, and that is waaay worse.
The cats are doing the world a favor by keep disease down.
On the radio, they said these numbers mean that if cats could prey on humans, they would reduce the human population by 60%. THAT would be doing the world a favour.
I've always found that nail clipping helps. Just that last 2mm of hyper-sharp claw--keep that down and their kill ratio drps precipitously. And keepr your cats neutered to prevent raising the stray population.
30 - 80 million feral cats in the US--that's actually the most surprising number I found. Wow. It's been known for a while that cats kill a lot of birds and rodents. Probably the casue of the early symbiosis of cats and humans.

Must be a pretty powerful air rifle. Either that or you enjoy spending ten minutes pumping shots into them to kill them.

It's a pretty standard break air rifle. One pump and the chronometer reads a pretty steady 1350fps muzzle velocity using .177 Beeman pointed pellets.
CO2 powered air rifles will easily take out a cat. They even have some that are used for big game hunting at .50 calibre....there are quite a few youtube hunting videos on it.
My buddy used one to take out skunks. Worked OK on the first couple, but on one he said it took like nine shots, and the thing was making this awful keening noise, not to mention the stink. Didn't use it after that. Maybe skunks are harder to kill. Don't know what kind it was though.

There certainly used to be - it was how the government kept Airsoft guns on the Restricted list for so long.
Given that you can buy Airsoft all over the place now (Canadian Tire for example), I'm guessing the laws have changed somewhat.
