I'd prefer that she took off the poppy altogether because I'm fairly certain that none of those boys, from Quebec or elsewhere, died on the behalf of separatist scum.
And yet, afaik, a significant percentage of the CF is french. And I've never heard anyone disparage the bravery or competence of our francophone soldiers. Seems to me there is a huge disconnect between the Quebec political elites and the actual people of Quebec.
"SprCForr" said I don't really care. Despite all the hype from the RCL, the poppy is just a symbol of remembrance for those who fell.
She's wearing one, that's just fine with me.
But the RCL clearly says that the poppy should be wear without modifications. And, it's obvious it was a political move from her and her strategists. That's what she wants: create division and spread hate. Divide et impera.
"Freakinoldguy" said Why would she even open this very divisive topic? Quebec never looks good on this subject.
Simply because in Quebec the Military has been a divisive subject since the WWI and conscription.
I have to agree. She wants to pick the scab off an old wound. I think the days of pitting Quebec against the ROC are waning and people like this chick want the bad old days of Quebec vs ROC back.

I'm not swayed by any of the arguments the Legion has made about the fixing of the poppy. The RCL established the poppy as a symbol of remembrance of our war dead and as such, the symbol belongs to all of us. The fact that we wear it is enough for the Legion.
I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and at least credit her with wearing a poppy. That alone pays respect to war dead.

I think if Ms Marois would be quite happy to take us all the way back to the 1917 Conscription Crisis just for her own personal shits and giggles.
I agree Fog and I concur with Sappers views on the poppy.
I think its high time the Legion stopped pissing and moaning about pins such as the National Flag et al in the centre of the poppy. Redesign it and remove the need for any extra pins. They should just make a black poppy centre pin and be done with it.
This is her version of the white poppy. Too bad for her the stunt fell flat, and no one outside of a few Quebec veterans gave a shit. If she wanted to piss us off she should of just of worn the white (surrender) poppy.
I could care less about the fleur de lis on her poppy. I doubt she understand what the poppy really means though. Dying for Canada is something I don't think she would ever do. So I don't know why she's wearing it in the first place. When Quebec veterans fought/fight, they do it for all of Canada, Quebec included.

Kinda gives one hope, no?
I wonder how the boys (and girls) at Valcartier feel about this.
My son is military... and is at Valcartier.
EDIT: I forgot, my father was military... and served at Valcartier.
She's wearing one, that's just fine with me.
