Conservatives' budget to reset retirement at age 67

I do not understand why somebody earning 67k a month when retired should be getting full OAS. Lower the income on at which OAS is clawed back, rather than raise the age.

Or do both.

I don't have a problem with moving it to 67 - most of the developed world already has done it - we're just lagging behind as usual.

Seems logical to raise it. More people today are physically and mentally fit to work well past the age of 67 years.

A month, that's a year, and 67k gross isn't all that high these days, besides, OAS is supposed to be universal, just a the liberals's national day care program was universal. It ceased to be universal when they brought in clawback, but I'm good with the current clawback threshold, every little bit counts...

It should probably be clarified that this only starts as of 2023.

I don't agree. Young people work harder than old people. Old people sit around and take up space. We need to Logan's Run those guys.

So it would seem. These sorts of statements come with the territory when you are claiming to be presenting a long term plan. The last Liberal developed this habit as well.

Glad to see that federal employees are now almost being treated like ordinary Canadians, and have to work until 65. About time!

A full pension? I think it's 25. My uncle got out at 43(his last posting was the Rainbow) with a full pension and then spent the next 23 years walking around Victoria handing out parking tickets for the city, as a commissionaire. He got a pension from that too.

Depends on what you define as "young people".

Many young people, especially those fresh out of school are generally terrible to work with. Lazy, unreliable & entitled.

My best friend from public school just took a part-time job at the hometown hardware store. He joined the Forces right out of highschool, did 25 years (safety systems at Cold Lake, mostly). He's my age on full pension. It's a hell of a lot easier to critize someone else's working conditions than one's own, isn't it?
