That's the way Governments like it. De-fund the research, and they don't have to pay attention to any inconvenient findings.

Is it any wonder that the Russians and the Chinese dispute Canada's claims to the Arctic regions? Really, possession is 9/10 of the law, as the saying goes, and if you're not going to possess it then someone else will do it for you.

Don't get me wrong, but if your government won't even fund a freaking equipment hut in the region then I can kind of see why some other folks would see an opening to contest your claims.

That does seem to be the current line of attack on scientific inquiry.

What's more important, high arctic research or more prisons to hold the perps of all our unreported crime?

Jeeze Bart, it's just my way of showing disgust with the priorities of the Stevo government. Spend billions on unneeded prisons and defund scientific research.

Could it be that one of the scientists spoke to the Press without first getting clearance as to the content of his communication from the PMO.

Government scientists are under orders to keep their mouths firmly shut until the PMO gives permission and vets the information that will be passed.

Where are all these prisons you people keep talking about? The only prison I know that's currently planned is being built by the BC government.

So, you are saying Steve has no plans to build more prisons. OK, my mistake.

Your original comments was that his priority was to spend billions on unneeded prisons. Could you please direct me to some announcements or plans for the building of these prisons. As I said, the only prison I currently know of is one the provincial government wants to build. I do however think the goverment should pay the 1.5 million to keep this research station open. It's pennies in the grand scheme of things.

They planned on building huge ice breakers and a deep water port in Iqaluit too.... hasn't happened. The Liberals promised(for decades) to bring in a national day care program...never happened. They also promised to scrap the GST...never happened. Politicians promise lots of shit that they never follow through on. Until, they've been built, I'll just continue to believe it's talk, and let the Retards Against Steve's Secret Agenda blather on.

Oh, I thought you were responding to something you'd thought I'd posted or some such. No worries.

But you do understand that his manadaory minimum sentance legilsation (currently in the works) is going to require more prisons right? Even the head of Corrections Canada said they can't house all the new convicts and longer sentence they'll receive as a result.
