A member of Saudi Arabia's royal family increased to $1 million a reward offered by a Saudi cleric to anyone who captures an Israeli soldier to swap him for Palestinian prisoners.

    There are many times when I think the Israeli's go way overboard with their aggressive military attitude, when I read about stuff like this is just proves Israel's point that it is hard to deal with these folks as civilized people.

    Na. American policy is that the current president must be the one who gets cozy with brutal world leaders, not former presidents. We could wait until a Republican is president, but I don't know if we have that kind of time.

    Go for it. I'm sure the anti-Obama crowd would have published it. Show him holding hands (not shaking them) or kissing a Saudi or two. Bonus points for ass kissing - even Bush only did that in private. I seriously doubt the connections between the Obama family and the house of Saud are anywhere near what they are with the Bush family.

    Listen, it's just political reality. One President might praise some dictator, the next might be bombing him. It's not a partisan issue, even if a few lefties think it is. DanSC is right, it's the responsibility of current, sitting Presidents to make such actions.

    I'm not sure if this is somehow a revelation to you, or something, or if you enjoy playing a smartass.

    I enjoy playing smartass. And pointing out that yes, every American president sucks up to the Saudis, but that the Bushes just sucked way way harder, and in private. If you see that as equivalent, then your vision seems a bit skewed.

    How are the Bushes compromised? In House of Bush, House of Saud, I trace more than $1.4 billion in contracts and investments from the House of Saud to companies in which the Bushes and their friends have had key roles. (Michael Moore uses this figure in Fahrenheit 9/11.) Saudi money bailed out Harken Energy when George W. Bush was on its board of directors. That's how he made his fortune. Bush 41 and James Baker traveled to Saudi Arabia repeatedly for the Carlyle Group to woo Saudi investors and win contracts. The Bush family remains close to Prince Bandar, even though Bandar's wife actually funded two 9/11 hijackers�indirectly and inadvertently, of course. Indirect and inadvertent�that's the Saudi way.
