A pastor who objected to a kissing lesbian couple he claimed he mistook for heterosexuals at a southwestern Ontario Tim Hortons says he now fears for his safety amid plans for a protest over the couple's removal from the restaurant.
You see I think this is yet another management fail; when you threaten people with calling the cops
She said the manager told them their behaviour was unacceptable and that they had five minutes to leave or the police would be called. So they left.
They will lash back, especially if they think they are in the right. If the manager had come out and said "Really guys, I think its a little much. Some of the patrons are complaining can we have less straddling and tonsil hockey?" Or if the pastor would have just kept their mouth shut and ate out of sight of the couple.
As for what the pastor denies, I could definitely see him staring them down. As for the prayer circle, I think it's more likely he just prayed with his kids for the couple to see the path to God and change their sinful ways.
Oh I agree, but taking the hard "I don't hate gays!" stance isn't helping him. I do agree with him somewhat that it is blown out of proportion because the couple were gay. Again, saying stuff like "I hate the sin, not the sinner" does not score him any points.
The sin was openly display of affection, that he deemed his kids too young for. That is his right. That the sinners turned out to be gay is not the issue, although it is made the issue.
Yesterday, on the bus home, there was a young gay couple tickling themselves. They both looked like Justin Bieber. They were right in front of me in the bus and it embarassed me so I put my eyes down and read my book. Am I homophobe ?

Actually, you should have beaten both of them to death with your book. Certainly not for the gay stuff but definitely for the obscene Beiber imagery.
It's interesting that so many here believe the preachers excuse after the story got out, that he believed it to be a hetero couple. I call BS on that and think he's backtracking to hide his bigotry. Who is he to project his morals on the rest of us? I highly doubt these two women were doing anything overtly amorous, especially considering ones Mom was sitting next to them.

But if that were true, wouldn't the manager just have told the preacher to shove it where the sun don't shine?

An obviously biased preacher who admits to disliking homosexuality, and a Tim Hortons manager. Or these two ladies and a mom. I'm leaning towards the lesbians, telling the truth that is.

So that story is prolly a liiiiittle overreacted

On both sides. If indeed the mother was present, I'd tend to agree with RUEZ. A local Pastor probably carries a fair amount of weight at the local Timmies. He also has a right to his own bias. Unlike him I teach my kids right from wrong (including another persons right to be), I see him teaching his kids only the wrong.

Best part.

Great Lord Cthulhu endorses this post!
