Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, won a parliamentary vote of support for boosting the firepower of the bailout fund after raising the spectre of war in a speech in the Bundestag.

If you read carefully she says she's trying to prevent war and while I oppose the Euro and the EU I do appreciate her point of view that a Europe united under one currency and the EU is far less likely to go to war again.
