The Taliban released a video of the man, who appeared clean-shaven, in which he answered questions from an unseen interrogator. The man said he had travelled to Afghanistan because he has a strong interest in its history.

Asked why he had wanted to visit Afghanistan, the man said: "history and historical sights, old buildings and shrines."

For those who say personal responsibility is an example of right wing extremism, then in this case, I'm a right wing extremist.

Me too. There is no system that forced him to do this, just his own stupid decision. We shouldn't spend too much effort trying to free him.

Canadian diplomats have a lot better things to do than free moron tourists who go to dangerous places. He probably though it would be fun.

Too bad the people that you voted for are going to get the cameras on them and start acting like total dicks about it, just like in the same identical way they did with the Brenda Martin travesty.

    "It's all Harper's fault!"
    "Why isn't Harper doing something?"
"He truly is worse than Hitler!"
    etc
    etc
    etc

Easier to write the script for this one than that of an Archie comic.

Unfortunately you have a point. But, did you vote for the CPC because they wouldn't? And are you even 100% sure that if the Dips were in power the CPC would come out with their own, very similar script?

More like the CPC would be the ones digging all the tunnels under the border just so normal Canadians could flee to the US and escape the tyranny of the handjob-obsessed neo-Stalinists of the NDP. If the Dippers were in charge the CBC would be in full hand-off no-criticism mode, like it was the Second Coming of Trudeau or something. And the Dippers would get that goof out of A-stan first by unilaterally withdrawing all our soldiers and then publically apologizing to the Taliban for all the mean things we've been doing to them.

I hope none of our guys are ordered to help this idiot. If he were a civie helping out an NGO or something, I could see it. But a tourist? Sometimes you just have to say no to the fucktards.

How many countries are there? And this bozo decides a war zone is the perfect tourist destination.
If he had been alive during WW2, the dumbfuck probably would have thought spending the summer of 1944 touring the Norman countryside would have been just ducky too.

I'm sure we are making efforts right now to either buy him out of there or JTF2 him out of there.
