As they are the last only Canadian team still alive, they ARE Canada's team.
Edmonton's just jealous they don't have a team.
But don't worry Terry, even at their apex, the Oilers weren't Canada's team either.
"OK, the Olympics brought Vancouver closer to the rest of Canada, but as a city I find Vancouver the least Canadian city of all the places I've been.
"It's not just a climate thing but attitude. This is more Northern California than Canada. Nothing bad about that, but I think outsiders see it as yuppie, expensive and shallow. It's just different. There are more Starbucks than Tim Hortons, more sushi than chicken noodle.

If that's the criteria for being Canada's team, then congratulations to the Club de hockey Canadien with their 24 Cups who must be Canada's real team.
If they were the only Canadian team, then yes... or maybe for now, they can have the title until the season's over.
They're Vancouver's team and the fan's team.

Although in all seriousness, Toronto and Montreal really are Canada's hockey teams.
Even in the US they have non-Canadian fans. But for me it's always been T.O. first, Vancouver second. This season I started cheering for the Habs too, but they'll never supplant Vancouver as my number 2 team.
