The Pivot Legal Society is demanding a review of the Vancouver Police Department's policies regarding the use of police dogs, including whether the trained K9s should be biting suspects.

"..consider training dogs to find suspects and bark, rather than the "bite and hold" technique currently employed with fleeing suspects.

Because barking at someone who is running away is really going to stop them.

"stop or I'll send the dog and you will get bitten" is a good enough order. If they run then tough on them.

If any of thses dogs are biting people just being questioned and not being aggressive towards the officer then it should be looked into.

The injuries that people receive from these dogs can result in life-long scars and trauma," staff lawyer Douglas King said in a release. "It is time we asked ourselves just how necessary these practices are."

How about the trauma and injuries victims receive from these asswipes?

Oh yea I almost forgot, the only people suffering in Canada now are the Criminals, because the rest of us are responsible for their actions.

Then don't do anything that gives the dog a reason to bite your sorry ass!

Next thing we know police officers will only be able to say "Stop!... or I'll say stop again..."

Any time that the social liberals go into goody-goody mode and say that only the bad ol' conservatives have genuine hatred in them I just remind myself how these little leftist idiots usually regard the police and the military.

I said it a few times before but I'll say it again. In the interest of genuine collectivism, all police everywhere should go on a spontaneous work stoppage that lasts a minimum of two months. When they go back to work and survey the nuclear-war levels of wreckage generated by a brief experiment in having a police-free society I doubt that the cops will be encountering too many finger-pointing liberals from that moment on. Chaos, as the liberals would find out rather quickly and to their great regret, has a very efficient way of weeding out the weak and the incredibly stupid.

But don't most liberals live in gated communities??

Barbarians usually ain't too afraid of walls and gates. And I doubt that too many of the residents stocked up on water and MRE's anyway. 8)

hey, they have evian and little canned Hors d'uvres.....and if worse comes to worse they'll outrun the hordes in their prius. besides the police will help them, because after all they pay the wages of those jack booted fascists. Then when the cops do show up to save their sorry asses, they'll record how brutal the police were to the home invaders and rapists and post it on you tube to demonstrate why the powers of the police need to be curtailed even more...so they can have a more peaceful society.

The guy in this story didn't do anything to give the dog a reason to bite him. The cop thought he had stolen a bike (turned out to be his). According to the cops own testimony, the victim was dismounting, but the cop rushed in with his dog and took this guy, who was offering no resistance, down. The dog bit him in the side. I bet you'd be pissed too if this happened to you. But then I guess you never ride a bike, so don't give the cop a reason to sick his dog on you. We've had people bitten who were just standing on the sidewalk while the cop was chasing someone else, but the dog went after them instead. But I guess just standing on the sidewalk is giving the dog a reason to bite you, and you never stand on the sidewalk so you'll be OK. If the cops can't control their dogs and have the dog only attack someone who represents a danger, then they shouldn't be using them.
