In its 73-year history, the Beetle has evolved from the hippie ride of choice to a cute chick car. Now Volkswagen is reinventing it again.

You know, if you push the windshield back another foot or 18 inches, it starts to look a little Porschish ;)

I liked one of the ad campaigns that came out when they reintroduced the Beetle.

"Now with exciting new features, including heat."

It's a stupid car. The Golf is a great car, especially the GTI. This is jut a Golf with less room inside. I guess one advantage, at least with the old new Beetle is you get more headroom. But pity the fool that has to sit in that backseat.

That one will surely go faster than my old '71 Beetle, that didn't go faster than 90 km/hr (downhill, backwind )

They should make it a two seater and do what you said. A GTI version of that would be an interesting car. Make a convertible too, of course.

Well, that WOULD be a Porsche. :)

Can't have that kind of competition, cause it's all VW..

This is what an old one looks like...

    And a newer one...

    See the resemblance ?

Exactly. Beautiful car. With an updated drive train and a reasonable price I think that would be a real hit.

I like the new version of the beetle. I don't like the existing one but this one looks more like the real peoples car. Very nice! Stick a nice turbo four in it, give it 4WD and I may be interested.

    Ah... sweet memories, the beetle.

One of the first cars I drove. An older girl I worked with in a theatre had one and took me out on the country roads at night after work to drive (I was 15).

Her name was Kitty... the girl, not the car. :D

It makes a great cab for inner city travel.

In Bogota they take out the front passenger seat and it's perfect I've travelled in a number of them and they're fabulous.

Another very sturdy product a few of my friends owned them back in the day-not built to last though.
