A rockslide on the Sea-to-Sky Highway between Whistler and Vancouver destroyed one vehicle early Thursday morning as boulders the size of cars crashed down onto the road.

The article doesn't mention it, but we've had at least one person squashed by a boulder there. They weren't so lucky. Then there were the people who drove off the bridge that had been washed away by a mudslide.

That was all long long ago and it wasn't a mudslide it was a slide-Welcome to mountain driving.

A mudslide that reached a speed of 80 km per hour wiped out the centre of the M Creek bridge in less than 30 seconds,

Fresh in my mind. Guess that's what happens when you get old. At the time I used to drive that highway all the time in the dark to get to the back country or Whistler, so it made an impact on me.

I think the boulder squashing thing was a little more recent. Poor woman was sitting there 'cause the highway was closed and splat.

Barilko was probably thinking of this more recent incident:
Troubling questions arise about the night five people died when Rutherford Creek bridge was destroyed in a massive rainstorm
That was in 2003. But still no rock slide.
