If this numbskull was more interested in reducing the number of abortions he could do something real positive like make contraception more accessable.

We have abortion on demand in Canada, as there are no laws against it, assuming the woman can find a doctor to do it. (Many can't very easily). But I doubt if they can just waltz into a clinic and bada bing it's done. I would guess they would need an examination and then set an appointment etc. So I would guess there already is a de facto waiting period in place. Exploring options with them during that process seems OK to me.

I just love it when we humans fail to learn from our mistakes. Anti-abortion laws don't prevent abortions. They prevent clinical abortions. South Dakota better be ready for a big increase in the number of women showing up to hospital emergency wards with injuries from back-alley abortions.

There are a lot of girls/women forced to undergo an abortion by their bf/pimps/fathers, while they may not want one, and there are a lot of women who panic and think an abortion is their only option because they are raised that way.

What this does is determine whether the woman really stands by her decision and will be less likely to be traumatized because in hind sight, it wasn't what she wanted.

This doesn't make abortions illegal, it just says "THINK, DAMN IT!!!"

    Wow.

You have to wait 3 days for an abortion, but you can buy a handgun with no waiting time.

SB0070 An Act to repeal the provision requiring a forty-eight hour waiting period to purchase a pistol.

As I said above, in Canada, I can't see a woman being able to walk into an abortion clinic and have one right there, right now. Maybe they can, and that's a little scary. I think a requirement to sit down with a neutral counselor to discuss the situation is probably a good idea. Since we have no laws in the matter in Canada, I don't know what actually happens.

Me neither, and that fact alone is not a good thing. Education is essential...

Well, if you are in that dire need, you can always abort by shooting yourself in the vajayjay (thanks Oprah) and slowly die. 2 birds with 1 stone! Errr, bullet

I'm good with this in that it allows a woman time to think about her options. Recent investigations, particularly in Pennsylvania, show that women are being practically coerced into having abortions at some (not all) Planned Parenthood clinics. The mandatory waiting time of three days is not onerous and is not a violation of anyone's rights.

What I'd like to see are criminal prosecutions of people who coerce women into having abortions to cover up their crimes. In California we've had several teachers over the years use the law to let them take underage girls across state lines (typically to Nevada) to have abortions and later it comes out that it's the teacher who got the girl pregnant in the first place.
