Organized religion dying out is a good thing. However, the eventual death of organized religion doesn't mean the death of spiritual beliefs. These will persist for a long time to come. Also, look at the environmental movement and how dogmatic it has become.

Yeah, it's kinda the same thought process, although with a bit more hard data into it.

People can still have an unhealthy attachment to unorganized religion, but at least it'll be easier to work around. All in all, sounds good... But will the southern hemisphere, mostly the Islamic countries follow suite?

Wasn't there a article around here awhile ago of people in Afghanistan starting to Disown religion. Not in breaking numbers or anything but a lot more than usual.

Didnt they say this in the 70's in 20 years or so God would be dead? I think they underestimate the of the religulous. As long as blind faith is seen as a wonderful thing to be cherish and praised, it will hold its place with a percentage of people.

Some of them are into pure Gaia worship. Those who say they aren't will quite often expose a panoply of Eastern and pagan and even Wiccan beliefs as they talk about environmental issues.

Also, I think it's a little premature to announce the end of religion when there are more religious people alive on earth right now than ever before.

Showing a little love for Mother Earth doesn't seem so bad to me.

Lovin' Mother Earth, that's more of a spiritual thing than a religious thing anyway, there's nothing organized and regulated about it like there is with religions.

Religions may disappear but spirituality won't.

In the beginning there was a word, and that word was "ARR".

And spirituality is good. So there.
