The best humanitarian assistance we could lend the Libyan people to have the USS Enterprise carpet bomb the palaces that the Colonel is living in although given his chicken shit character he is probably hiding out in a bunker built under a school.

And when we miss him entirely yet kill a hundred citizens because an errant bomb wiped out a nearby market what then?

The US issues a heartfelt oops?

Will the pilots be tried for crimes under Libyan law? Will those that ordered the actions up to and including the president be subjected to the same treatment people are demanding happen to MG?

Is this the only response the US is capable of? No matter what the situation you resort to carpet bombing?

Many moons ago, there was a television commercial for dairy producers that went 'Moo cows make milk'. A local radio station parodied it, so that is was the same tune, sung by 'Ronald Regan' with slightly different lyrics, just after the US bombed several of his residences killing one son.

"Mmmmomar GaGaGadaffi, that dirty snake that I abhor,
How did you like those F-111's?
Keep it up and I'll be sending plenty more."

All it does is simply make flying planes into buildings a legit response to state sponsored terrorism by the US government.

We are supposed to be the society to look up to not the ones they brought down to their level.

That's why chicken shit tyrants like him build their bunkers under schools, hotels, hospitals, ect.

As far as what will influence the Colonel, the one thing he understands - force.

Where was the US fleet when Bashir was murdering hundreds of thousands of his own civilians? Or Mugabe? Or aid darling Zenawi?

The world will see this intervention for the hypocrisy it represents.

Hopefully they'll just be supplying the resistance government with food and medicine. Sailing one of the navy's hospital ships out there would also be a good idea.
