He could never hurt a fly, just people.

I have no issue if this primate wants to blow himself up, just not around people.

Generally speaking, people with aliases have something to hide.

Due process... innocent until proven innocent, GT.

Without having to look this up, can anybody tell me on what grounds someone could fight extradition in this case?

Cara Rain says her common-law husband Sayfildin Tahir Sharif "is not a terrorist. He is a kind, generous man, a hard-working man, a loving and kind and affectionate father."

And that is enough to not be a terrorist? I guess no one is a terrorist/murderer/criminal then, because we ALL have something nice and kind in us, and don't forget that the worst people are the best actors.

He is innocent - he hasn't been convicted of anything yet.

But this story is the usual mush you get with gangbangers too. Some mom going on about what a good boy Johnny is, or some bubblehead about how nice he is to their baby. Waste of newspaper space, but I guess they figure printing this will make them fair and balanced.

Just a couple things to point out. Perhaps she is right, that the person she knows couldn't do this. Perhaps also, she doesn't know him like she thinks.

So we make the FBI fill out the forms and provide evidence. Mahaer Arar taught us to not accept evidence such as 'just trust us, he's a terrorist'. I heard his defence lawyer on the radio the other day. From the arrest warrant, he is quite sure there is not enough evidence to extradite this man to the US.

I remember watching a documentary by a speaker at TED, on the Taliban and how they recruit people into their organizations. Seeing videos of kids knowing that these 12 and 14 year olds smiling and sitting on top of a bike would be shortly killing themselves and taking dozens with them was absolutely chilling. Knowing that they got there so that they could escape a life of poverty made it even worse.

A terrorist is not someone who secretly needs to kill or who is deranged all the time. He is a person who believes that he is in the right, and since what he is doing is morally acceptable he will likely be able to be peaceful otherwise, even if it is just an act or just his cover. As Brenda said, sometimes the worst people who intend to do the worst things have the best skills at hiding that side of themselves, because they have the incentive to do so.

It is sincerely disturbing to see how easily something as simple as human decency can be twisted around and used as a weapon to beat others down.

While I do not mean to draw an equivalency, even if a cop ends up shooting someone who is dangerous, he otherwise may be unable to bring himself to even talk sternly to his dog. People are capable of many things if their moral code opens themselves to do it, good and bad.

Well, if she says he's innocent, then that should be good enough for the Canadian courts right?

I thought you Catholics saw a guilty person every time you looked in the mirror.
