    +1. Too bad too.

I recall the interviews with him and his ex, as he was getting out of the hospital, and them both saying there was no spousal angle on it at all. It just reeks of the Mounties trying to justify their own screw up, because some member saw a shotgun and got his nose out of joint.

I'll bet he never gets his shotgun back, despite having a permit to carry, discharge and transport it. They'll probably stick with the 'spousal abuse' angle to justify it's seizure.

Hate to say - but this is kind of a standard thing. In the dept. where I'm a reservist the new sheriff instructed IA to investigate all charges of 'resisting arrest' and similar such 'usual charges' when they're filed tangentially to the reason why the deputy arrested or cited the person.

Meaning if you get pulled over for a minor traffic stop and then, for whatever reason, force is then used on you and then after the fact the deputy piles on some charges on you the dept. requires an investigation now.

The policy was imposed in 2008 and, in an utter and total coincidence, 'resisting arrest', 'failure to obey lawful orders', and etc. types of charges dropped by around 70% that year.

    Purely coincidental, of course. :|

Usually, cops are trying to turn everything on their own way, so we rarely have a good evidences.
