The secret weapon against WalMart is unionisation. If at least one employee in every WalMart across the country joins a union, every one of those WalMarts will be shut down. That has been WalMart's consistent reaction to employees joining a union.
They have pretty much identical business models and business practices so the only way Canadians will be able to tell the difference is by the sign over the freakin door or the destination slip for the Brinks trucks carrying our dollars out of country.

Not remotely close to reality, but OK. There's a lot more involved than just that to even get a retail outlet unionized.
And FWIW, unionization in retail is a terrible idea. Been through it on both sides as a worker and a manager.
