Couldn't we just deny landing rights altogether?

Qatar seems happy with their new landing rights.

No man. We aren't petty like they are. They didn't want to play ball, but Qatar did, so they got more landing rights instead of the UAE. And that's where it will stand. The UAE gets to keep their landing rights, and can ask for nothing further as they took their ball and went home.

I say turnabout is fair play.

Cancel whatever routes the UAE still has, match dollar for dollar
    visa restrictions / costs.

    Seriously, to hell with them.

Well sherlock here isn't too smart. Cancel routes, right and get sued for breach of contract.

Fair play ? Thats exactly what is about. UAE nationals nor residents were ever allowed visa free entry into Canada. And the Visa fee is matched for UAE nationals and residents wanting to visit Canada and vice versa.

I think your doing a great service to you country by not living in it. A couple of Indian immigrants would be a better option for Canada
