    I'd hang myself first.

I think the whole idea is an absolute disgrace to the sport, and an insult to the fans. We do NOT need a bunch of women bouncing around with their boobs hanging out to draw fans to our games. We're Canadian for God's sake. It never should have been allowed in the NHL, period. The yanks keep it up, they might as well just create a whole new sport because there'll be nothing left of the game we once knew as hockey.

No there are just the kiss cam. Ice girls in skimpy outfits, alchohol free flowing during the game and fans heading to the bar/vendors during the periods. Goffy stuff going on out on the ice during the periods. But hey putting a few cheerleaders out there takes away from the sport.

I see this as a ploy to not get fans in the stands but to keep them there. People will not go to the game for the cheerleaders but maybe when the home team is stinking it up on the ice a few horny guys wont leave do to the cheerleaders and thus buy more beer and gear. The profit line is whats driving this.

Meh, it's not hurting anything. Games are full of hot women anyways, now some of them will just be dressed the same.
That reminds me, does anyone know why the percentage of women at an NHL game who are hot seems to be way higher than in the general population?

You're right - all that other crap is there too, and I don't care for any of it any more than I do this cheerleader bullshit. It's all a bunch of fluff. How much more do we need? If this is kept up, we'll be buying tickets to a circus with a hockey game as an added feature.

I realize it's all about profit. You're absolutely correct on that one. Doesn't mean I have to agree with it (nor does it mean you have to disagree  ). The sport has survived for years without the fluff. Why, now, do we suddenly need all of this crap for it to continue to survive? As soon as there's a decline in the fan base, they implement some new aspect to the game to "make it more exciting for the fans". If they're continuing to grasp for new ideas, it would seem evident to me that it's not working. Maybe going back to the traditional "Rock'Em, Sock'Em Hockey" is what folks are really looking for.

I don't know. Personally, it seems that the vast majority of the new ideas that have been introduced have been a detriment to the sport rather than an improvement. Then again, I guess most everything in today's society is being altered or covered in fluff as a means of gaining profit and ensuring survival. I suppose it's merely a sign of the times. I find that very sad.
